I've been working on a new 3D shortfilm: "Elevator". Looking for a style between realistic and toon, I modeled a Bender and this mouse named "Florez" designed by Muyi Neira. Below you will find two turn-arounds tests to see how Maya Toon works with camera movements, the use of oclussion with it and other stuff:

"IMPECABLE" is our final master project, created by Huy Nguyen, Muyi Neira, Marcello Álvarez and me, in 2006. It's a story about love in the boxing world, it tells the story of "León Durán", a lonely character pushed by forces that he can't understand, and accepting his destiny in silence...

A shortfilm by "Rubén García", and produced by FREAK, "La punta del iceberg" talks about an extreme situation, when we find ourselves taking decissions that change our lifes, and how people has to confront this unexpected moment. Working the editing, the idea was not to follow the characters, but the tension and feelings between them:

THE LAND OF FRANKINCENSE: Documentary, editing sample

A two parts, fourty minutes documentary to celebrate the opening of a Museum in Omán, divided in two important areas: History & Maritime Hall. Created by Magoproductions, I worked as an editor of "The History Hall". The idea was to create a DVD that allows people to make a "walking tour" into the museum, explaining and showing the different sections, and using real images to give an idea of this beautiful country. This is the introduction:

This is a sample video with the final part (spoiler!, jeje), the battle between the best boxers in the world. Playing with metaphore, and looking all kind of stuff to make a sound contrast between the "air" hits of "Martillo Morgan", and the really strong hits of "León", the main character. The battle speed was changed using editing to make people feel the impotence of fighting "León":

This was my first job as an editor after my graduation: a fourty minutes documentary about the 20th aniversary of the "Council of Young People of Extremadura (CJEX)". It was produced by "Alternativa Joven" association, and co-realized by Tomás Jimenez, María Soriano and me. Four months of intensive work travelling, recording, interviewing & editing.

ASHA: The Grouching Parrot

One of my favourite characters in the 3D Animated Serie "ASHA", maybe because it is the funniest, instead of it's personality. I had to animate a lot of takes of "Boques", the parrot. Limited and fast animation (500fpd production needs), but I hope you enjoy this selection:

LPDI: titles

This is my work with the titles in the shortfilm named "La Punta del Iceberg", by Rubén García, and produced by FREAK S.L.. They werre made using particles and texture animation in Maya, giving the idea of something fragile, broken by the flow of the wind. You can see it in HD:

LOS HIJOS DEL AGUA: 3D Space Scene

This is part of a six minutes movie production developed by Molinare, Urano & EGM as part of the "Expo Zaragoza". It was projected as a Dome Camera, so you will see this video with a Lens Deformer. I took only part of the image, the movie was created thinking in where people should put his eyes in the dome.

My work here was the "Space Scene": VFX, lighting, texturing & animation. You can see the video in HD:

IMPECABLE: postproduction & sound sample

Postproduction & Sound were another part of my job in this shortfilm. We rendered the layers in Maya, and we decided to tell the rising of "Impecable" using a 2D camera in Combustion, showing his better moments in the newspapers and why he becomes the better boxer in the world.
I chose this scene because of the sound too: León moves are so clean that he make sounds like the vibration of a cup. His hits in the 2D scene were made using bullets sounds, impacts, and the sound of a plane to create the friction with the air. Narrators of the fights, the photos.... all working together to make people feel the emotion of the moment Leon lives.

IMPECABLE: Woody's Animation

I really enjoyed working on this scene. Woody is operating to Leon (the main character) to become him a handsome man. Woody performs like an orchestra director, but you can see a few seconds later that you cannot trust this guy at all. Above all, he looks pretty sure of his work, he just move his arms like an insect, playing his "song", doing his job:

IMPECABLE: Rigging Woody

My second setup. I worked only from waist to head cause the character didn't walk in the shortfilm. These are the features:

- IK's in Fingers (it was useful to make them move like spider legs)
- IK/FK Controls (more than a feature... just something you will need)
- Wrist blocking (useful when he put his hands on a surface)
- Animation Controls Panel (you don't need to have all the anoying controls in the character activated)
- Auto Translate/Rotation (when you select the control, it automatically choses what you need to move, for example, Rotation in the neck, Translation in the elbow)

IMPECABLE: Modeling Woody (smoothed)

In our final master project "Impecable", there was this crazy Doctor called Woody. An amazing design by my team partner, I worked this model harder in the top part, as well as the setup because of productivity porposes. Woody is a plastic surgeon, a very oldman with scratches in his hands (that looks like scalpels themselfs) and neck. With a little inspiration in Woody "the woodpecker":
